Cannot agree with you more @SelmaBouvier. For most people, Bitcoin doesn't quite fit with their natural state of comfort, but it's getting there.
Why is gold worth anything more than the jewellery value in gold? You can no longer redeem paper money for gold, nor can you eat it. Why is it worth anything? Because it's been like that for a long time. It's essentially a consensus within our society.
Same thing with a blockchain with the longest proof of work invested in it. Consensus.
