Teacher bashers are rife, over many years, on this website. As an ex-teacher who entered the profession after acquiring the necessary education and after ten years in the business world, I was able to assess the different work loads of each. Teaching is extremely stressful and demanding many after hours work. It's a rare evening if a teacher is not engaged in work preparation or/and in assessment of students' work. I taught senior classes at secondary level. It was certainly no cop out of a job.
Yes, moondog has a pathological dislike for teachers. That's his problem and he's not alone in this, among other ignorant members of our community.
My sympathies exist for this profession during this very challenging time. After taking early retirement from teaching, I have rarely been ill over the winter months. Do you wonder why this turn about occurred? Yes children share their illnesses very generously.
