Good points there but I'd be surprised if SI told the DMC not to pull the trial early. It's not called an independent DMC for nothing.
And that would also risk SI condemning people to death, people who could have been saved. Wouldn't be a good look when full results published. There'd be more than a few aggrieved and grieving relatives.
If the trial does end early with overwhelming efficacy there still would be intense scrutiny of results of therapeutic (as opposed to trial) dosing, making sure the promise holds good. That is similar to the provisional approval for Temcell in Japan. The fact it continues on the market there proves the overseer is happy with benefit.
