Most Docs i've dealt with (and yes that's a lot) learn the skill of simplifying complex concepts into something the average punter can understand. The doc seemed quite often to take exception to most posts I had made and in reply posted on a different thread to try and counter act anything I had posted...instead of simply asking why do you think that way ?

And it all seemed to be around my comments regarding side effects and risks...

My perspective is the question of potential side effects always need to be weighed against potential benefits gained.

I'd be the first person to admit that my own perspective might differ from others due to one primary reason....As part of my own cancer treatment and my dads..... daily decisions needed to be made on what side effects were an acceptable risk when the alternate is pure and simply death.

That mitigates your own thoughts on what is an unacceptable risk....did I have short and long term side effects after my own treatment ? Yes Were they acceptable to me ? Yes ...Why? I'm still alive ...pretty simple stuff really.

What I did do is to look up exactly what I was to be given and to soak that info up like a sponge...now I understand that some people do not do that....my own consultant commented on that and his surprise that I had ....for me I wanted to know what to expect.

I've also mentioned contra indications ....here's one example Trump spouts about Hydroxychloroquine .....my first reaction to his waffle was simply this ...there is a known contra indication between Digoxin and hydroxychloroquine ....in laymens terms it's a toxic combo that can affect the heart medication....no wonder it's been causing heart problems ...that's not rocket science it's known fact.

Here's another example Cardioversion ....some of my dad's chemo created the need for him to have this (side effect) ...in effect his heart had to be shocked back into a more regular rhythm. Yes that was a serious side effect but did it outweigh the need for his cancer treatment ...No

The doc needs to comprehend that some people have gone thru some of the very things he's so ardent about with his dire warnings. And are able to weigh those things up if they are informed.

For myself ....all I'd comment is IF he is an ICU doc then I'd like to know his name as I would be putting it on the don't let him near me or my loved list ...he's obviously not experienced enough (intern or registrar at best) nor has he enough emotional empathy to deal with real patients or their families....he'd last 5 minutes in oncology. I've never seen ANY ICU doc have the amount of time he has to post on here ad nauseum

Doc does however remind me of the emergency department triage nurse I once dealt with who couldn't comprehend why I was there ...quite simply I'd had an adverse reaction after once round ....had phoned oncology who said come straight in but as it's the weekend you'll have to come thru emergency and they will call us ....sounds simple right ? Not when you've got a nurse who has no idea what the problem is ? Eventually calls oncology who give them a right serve and said so let me get this straight you have our patient who has zero immunity right now sitting amongst a group of people coughing and spluttering all over her .....next thing I know doors fly open and I'm rushed through the doors before my feet can touch the floor, on call oncologist on his way down ....why because it is considered a medical emergency that a chemo patient is showing allergic reactions feeling unwell and it's not normal ...much more severe than normal after chemo effects. Emergency doc stands back and says not doing anything until oncology tells me what I can and can't give ....

I repeat my comments yes I'm very aware or risks vs benefits ...the Doc banging on about it ad nauseum on here wouldn't and never could change my mind on my stance....I'd weigh it up for myself and for those of my own family if they were incapable of doing so

Sorry folks had to vent .... normal service can re-commence tongue.png
