Options are more complex than trading stock primarily due to Theta, the Time decay component. As such, they do require more knowledge. Key tips are to trade liquid markets where possible and don't trade above what you are comfortable losing. APT doesn't have much Option volume, has high Implied Volatility (IV) so the spreads are wide. On top of that Market Makers aren't compelled to make a market in this environment because they can easily get burned. Try placing your orders towards the mid point of the spread (bid/ask difference), or a little closer to the offer to see if you get filled. XJO is the most liquid Option market on the ASX.
