I've just been looking at some of the long term charts for some of the financial stocks and unfortunately suncorp has performed pretty badly over about a 10 year timeframe.
Over the last 9 years their sp has gone up 0%, QBE about 150% and the other major banks (with the exception of NAB who had 1 debacle after another) between 30% to 100%.
I don't think you can blame the weather over that amount of time, they have some serious managment issues which in good times are hidden but have been exposed in the current climate.
They may get taken over but the damage to the sp has already been done and they have basically consistently underperformed.
