    Well, it's absolutely expected and predictable that Rudd or any other current politician would not say anything that could be even slightly misconstrued as 'knocking' the diggers at Gallipoli. That would be tantamount to voluntarily knocking 10 points off your popularity rating.

    The media would immediately jump on it, and the rest would be history. So the only response that you will get from Rudd or Turnbull would be to completely and unambiguously refute Keating's assessment.

    As Obdurate suggested before, perhaps "pandering to the ill-educated masses."
