cant give you an answer... its 500k north of kalgoorlie which puts it closer to the line but not so much in the tropic. close-ish though
i suspect the deal maker is the road upgrades for the great central road and the use of northern ports. it'll link south NT with the gold fields, potentially opening up further regions and providing jobs... the ports piece is selfexplanatory.
all i know is that NAIF wouldnt have accepted the proposal for consideration if it was an obvious no go.
