IMO, in the short term, Key should be prioritizing gas sales through the existing pipeline as per prior plans.
I doubt they have enough info to indicate the new gas disc is enough to support a separate plant, so I can only assume there are technical/legal hurdles with acquiring access to the pipeline.
However in the long run, I think it in KEY's and Tanzania's interest to set up a LNG export facility with close proximity to Asian markets. And what better place than on Songo-Songo island?
Very large gas fields will be required to support that idea. But if KEY finds what we hope it will find, there is not likely to be a local market for the gas anyway, so it will be the only way to go.
