Resolution chasing down ‘compelling’ gold targets at 64North ahead of late May drilling restart

Special Report: Following an encouraging first pass drilling program, Resolution will be heading back in later this month to dial in on its very own ‘Pogo’ lookalike.
Resolution Minerals (ASX:RML) turned heads in late 2019 with the acquisition of the 64North project, right next door to Northern Star’s (ASX:NST) 10-million-ounce Pogo gold mine in Alaska.
Maiden drilling at the compelling 2km by 5km Aurora gold target has confirmed that Resolution is in tier 1 territory.
The company has received assays from the lower third (323m to 462m) of recently completed hole one, and all assays from hole two (total depth 194m of an initially planned 600m), which was cut short by COVID-19 shutdowns.
These two holes successfully hit the same rock type, quartz veining, intense alteration and elevated ‘trace metals’ associated with gold in assays as Northern Star’s Goodpaster prospect and Pogo gold mine, Resolution says.
The results confirm Resolution’s exploration model and will be invaluable in determining future drill targets.
Exploration will kick off again very soon, with the mining industry in Alaska considered an “essential service”. Resolution will present the results of a highly encouraging regional review in the last week of May, about the same time drilling resumes at Aurora.
Drilling at the Aurora Prospect will initially focus on “high priority” hole A6, which is located immediately north of 20AU001 which identified 11 zones of gold mineralisation from near surface to the base of the hole at 462m.
This drilling program is expected to continue through to late July.
The results of the first phase of drilling will assist in drill targeting and vectoring towards higher-grade gold zones, managing director Duncan Chessell says.
“These drill assays confirm a Pogo-style mineral system is present at RML’s Aurora Prospect,” he says.
“The scale potential of both the Aurora and Echo prospects is compelling, and we look forward to drilling our high-priority drill targets in the coming summer season.”
The Echo prospect, in the north of the West Pogo Block, is directly down dip from Northern Star’s Goodpaster prospect and will also be advanced in the coming summer field season (June-July) with infill geophysics to be drill ready for August, the company says.
