lilac is all about chemistry. Inital tests were at lab scale and the ability of spherical beads to attract Li and leave all other elements behind.The li needs to be recovered off the beads. We need to know tht when scaled up extraction is complete...size ofbeads and flow rate as yet has not been disclosed. It should work but I wish we knew..so far not disclosed..I hope Gates did his due dilligence.
