CK's route is the quickest & easiest, but if u r a tightass (and therefore dont comprehend the sense in using citylink) and have a spare hour, either ..........
go south, jump on the westgate freeway for a very long but leisurely trip around that western ring road (not during peak hours - pointless)
or
if late at night, get your way to sydney rd and zigzag your way to whichever north bound road is convenient.
