I use Microsoft Money for keeping track of my share transactions. I don't know if that is suitable for you, but it certainly was a step from having to manage everything in a spreadsheet.

You can load in your share transactions and bank account transactions including brokerage and a brief comment regarding the trade. You can also select a button for it to grab price updates (actually the previous days closing prices, I think). Also you can get nice monthly summary reports and reports for assistance in tax returns.
