These disclosures of risk have been mentioned on every financial report/presentation I have seen the company submit.
The fact that journalists, with ulterior motives, are now using them as a headline of fear and negativity should not come as a surprise. Lots of individuals/hedge funds have a lot to lose and will resort to any tactic to save financial pain and, as such, they are doing everything possible to put out the fire.
