I think their electricity demand numbers are a little on the light side, it is more along the lines of 45,000 GWh pa, but the south east is now linked so we can send excess south when required......
Electricity in Queensland
Demand for electricity
Between 1999-2000 and 2007-08, annual electricity consumption in Queensland has grown by over 29 percent or approximately 10,500 gigawatt hours (GWh) making Queensland the second highest consumer of electricity in Australia. Queensland's record electricity demand of 8589 MW, was reached in March 2007.
Demand in south-east Queensland now is more than for the entire state of South Australia. This demand growth is expected to continue with an estimated one million people anticipated to make Queensland's south-east corner their home over the next 20 years.
