more likely they lend out to someone want to short but they shorting against the momentum so it could be deadly
If they are right and believe in the business, shorter would pay a few % on the lending stock and if it going nowhere
they have to buy back and return that would then driven up the stock more.

they profit from a short squeeze
so it a triple whamming earner for this fund manager
