At the risk of repeating myself, some of my earliest trading was live cattle here. I must look again.

As a farmer I and others were always looking to any low pressure system or cyclonic activity forming over Broome in WA.

That would invariably move SEish and usually bring rain to NSW.

That had two effects. Firstly it made things too wet for farmers to truck cattle to sale for days or weeks, and if things had been droughtish, it allowed farmers to keep cattle they thought they couldn't afford to feed and even allow some to buy cattle.

All that was positive for prices albeit temporary.

So when I saw the weather developing at Broome I would buy some live cattle futures, and sell a few days later as the rain arrived a few cents higher.

Then the bigger boys installed weather forecasting and images etc. and my edge was gone.

It was fun for a time and part of a learning curve. Probably haven't traded cattle for 25 years, lol.

You may be on the right track though.

No doubt equities will be good trading on a range basis rather than any new bull market, and so too with commodities but the commodities could well be the better and bigger movers.

The worse thing any one can do is to keep fighting the last war.

Good luck to you and look forward to some trading wisdom from your experience.
