In 1970, Vietnam War protesters surrounded the White House for weeks. Nixon didn't react quite the same way as Trump, who keeps turning as much of the area surrounding the White House into a bunker as he can while hiding out in the White House one.
Late one night Nixon, with only a few Secret Service guys and a valet, took that short walk down to the Lincoln Memorial and talked to protesters for an hour, trying to get across what he was trying to do.
Like Trump, Nixon was a deeply flawed character. He was called a lot of names. But never Bunker Boy.
