Kate Quirke’s passion for healthcare was shaped by her single mother who cleaned hospitals.
While Quirke’s mother had aspirations for her to become a doctor, she soon found herself working in technical roles at hospitals.
This experience exposed Quirke to the potential of technology in the healthcare sector.
She soon progressed through various management and leadership roles throughout her career and overcome barriers and discrimination in a formidable, male-dominated industry, including becoming the first female and youngest member of the NSW Health Advisory Committee.
Quirke led the sale of IT consulting firm MKM Health to ASX-listed health informatics company Alcidion, and in July 2018 she was appointed as the CEO of Alcidion.
Over the last 18 months, she has led the successful integration of products and employees across four different businesses (Alcidion, Oncall Systems, Patientrack and MKM Health) to create one company united under one brand (Alcidion).
Quirke has accelerated the growth of the company and uptake of its technology across Australia, New Zealand and the UK, delivering smart technology to more than 42 health organisations, live at 215 hospitals and at 30,000 hospital bedsides.
She has also strengthened the company’s relationship with the UK Government and is now working with 17 NHS Trusts across 39 hospitals in the country.
Outside of her role of CEO of Alcidion, quirke has been an active Board Member for The Stephanie
Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation for the last ten years.
The program is focused on turning around Australia’s obesity epidemic by teaching children how to adopt healthy and sustainable food habits.
