Sure, I don't dispute that the fee is disclosed. I simply recall that it wasn't brought to my attention when opening my account and making my purchase. Had it been, I would have paid cash instead of being charged for a credit facility which I don't need.
It just seems to me that the claim of "interest free" is rather inaccurate. APT charge you nothing for 8 weeks' of (albeit decreasing) credit. Even traditional products like GE credit cards charge something like a $25 establishment fee and then no ongoing charge. $72/year charged by Zip for a purchase which might be as low as (choose your number) is a bit ordinary. I get the sense with Zip, more so than Afterpay, that it is closer to payday lending and that a higher proportion of its customers will be using it out of financial distress rather than convenience.
Edit - I seem to recall also that the fee was higher than $6 when I used it. $15 or $20 rings a bell, but I could be mistaken.
Just my own thoughts.
