    Appreciate the discussion.

The latest and greatest thermally "hardened" Nd magnets for EV or HV apps are up to 12% Dy, though others claim just 1/10th of that; the real point is the need is currently above global production and anyone producing it will find customers happy to pay. And the EV industry would be further enabled.

Reports of Dysprosium irrelevancy have been and will continued to be greatly exaggerated.

With respect to Ce, about 1/3 Chinese NdFeB is toy grade and uses single digital %Ce. That is an older practice, as you noted.

The Toyota magnet is not toy grade and represents new technology. Anyone have comments on patentability? Still beholden to Hitachi?

You make a good point. The LaCe replaces both DyTb and NdPr if you look at the step change in composition before and after. I believe the way Toyota described it was "20% of Nd can be replaced"; anyway, that's what I've been using.

I think less Nd per unit is better. Unit retains value regardless, so Nd price can rise.
