On Friday RIO down 0.4% - BHP up 6.8%.
It is obvious insiders were onto this before it was announced. The timing of the announcement is also suspect. Shorting of RIO just became available again on most brokers.
I wonder how may BHP staffers and their mates have got a nice winfall from this insider info while others were buying thinking that the takeover offer was still on.
Should be investigated.
