Being a good manager/leader is always about covering your arse, not from a personal perspective, but looking at the prevailing industry conditions, the operating environment and where things are potentially heading. It's called identifying and dealing with contingencies. What we don't want to do is get 6 months down the track and find ourselves sweating for a lack of cash to do anything new, with no takeover in the works.

IMHO - there is an opportunity to add value to 4DS IP by developing a tuning map for the RERAM. IMEC are keen to do it, WDC are keen to do it. IMEC has probably lost a lot of work due to COVID, Another developer's loss is 4DS gain.

Currently the focus has been on Storage Class Memory, but not reason to see what could be done to develop an alternative to FLASH and even conventional RAM - maybe the speeds can be pushed to be faster than DRAM by sacrificing retention and endurance back to similar to DRAM metrics.

The end game has always been sale - but maybe we can sell the recipe for different criteria - one recipe to WDC for SCM, another to Toshiba for FLASH, another to Kingston for faster than DRAM replacement. Maybe another one for archival storage (slow but long retention times) How much more value does that create for the company?
