I like this debate we're having, I genuinely do. Sincerely thank you RDL for indulging me!
About the cost per tonne of cobalt and how that figures into the total cost of the car. You only have to do a bit of math to figure out that, even when the cobalt price was at historical highs, the cost of cobalt is easily absorbed into the bottom-line. Let's say something crazy like USD100k per tonne of cobalt. That translates to USD100 per kg of cobalt. The highest estimate of contained cobalt per EV car I can find was at around 15kg (this was from a decade ago, the real current value is probably less than 10kg). This equates to $1500 per EV car, absolute disastrous end-of-the-world wrist case scenario. Now think about how much they sell the cars for (usd39990 for the base Tesla model 3).
It is simply impossible to say that the added cost from cobalt really has a material effect on EV pricing. It only becomes a problem when you include HUMAN GREED into the equation.
