Sorry Flip, but if I hear the term ‘free carried’ and it cost me nothing one more time, I’ll spew up!
It’s the biggest fallacy in the market. If you invest $10k and it turns into $11k that’s your new balance. If you sell $10k and leave the $1k invested then you are choosing to invest $1k in that company. To not care what happens to that $1k because is was “free” is why most traders fail.
Your total balance is exactly that, it’s either profit or loss and should be treated with the same respect. Free doesn’t exist.
