It is my (limited) understanding that BHP have a 24% stake in Metalysis who have a system that will do the same as APG, but not as well, nor do the have the ability to do the other processes that APG can. There is going to be ( is) big demand for TiO2 and prices are rising.
The area of BHP would appear to be the same that looks after the Ekati Diamond mine in the Arctic Circle.
( There has been an interesting series on TV called "Ice Road Truckers" showing how they get eqipment to the Ekati Mine)
If there are any projects emerging that BHP Billiton can possibly use, they are going to make sure they are in on the groung floor. Any Company that has any technology that needs assistance (financial or otherwise ) will naturally look to BHP for help. APG has done this.
I do not see this (Seik ,correct me if I am wrong ) as being bad for APG. In fact the opposite as I think the APG Package will be best for BHP who are looking at the Mineral sands future. Put together APG appear to have a complete system...Metalysis do not ( They did not win the Award) BHP must have been involved with them before joining APG. If I ran BHP I would be picking the best out of all systems available.
It is all downhill now and we just need to be patient a little longer

May the Force be with you
