Hi everyone,
To add some thoughts, it seems to me Altura needed to produce a record quarter and it did.
Here’s a link to the March quarterly results for comparison;
[March 2020 Quarterly ]
Given that production had decreased by 15% last quarter the record shipment was a strategically sensible figure to book?
So, as James Brown said, congratulations to all involved.
And it was great to read of the pre-booked early July ship too? (Especially given shipping issue mentioned last quarterly?)
Apart from that, in regards today’s news, I am intrigued by James Brown’s comments in paragraph two of today’s notice;
... “Our operation continues to perform at a high-level during a time of global difficulty for all businesses. We
have delivered a record quarter in terms of product sold and shipped, whilst operationally we are on track
to achieve production of around 45,000 wmt.”
“There is no doubt we are still learning more about the entire supply chain and our production team
continues to produce a high-quality product at a globally competitive price point, whilst our sales and
marketing team have continued to ensure Altura meets its obligations to deliver product to our long-term
offtake partners.
The performance of these teams has been the backbone to our successful quarter.
Lastly, the spirit in which our workforce, management team and key contractors/support agencies have
overcome the challenges of the last few months is to be commended. We are further buoyed by the fact
that whilst unable to travel and conduct business in person, we have been able to not only maintain
relationships with our customers, but also progress and formalise new business arrangements...”
Breaking that (highlighted) sentence up ...
- .... “Still learning about the entire supply chain” ?
(That car sales directly impact off take partner requirements? That others want to undercut Altura contract prices ?... What else might be being learned?)
-... “And our production team continues to produce a high-quality product at a globally competitive price point.”..
(as said, well done Altura!... But in reference to potential undercutting is this saying AJM can afford to price match?)
-our sales and marketing team have continued to ensure Altura meets its obligations to deliver product to our long-term offtake partners.
(??? Sales and marketing have a hand in product delivery? ...Does this effectively describe that in regards new (lower) pricing realities the long term off take partners have been retained by way of sales and marketing renegotiating prices?)
.... Basically is this sentence a message to expect lower than anticipated EOFY financial result, and if so, how much lower?
cheers
