The affect on production flows will be a big fat zero, zilch, nix or none if the winter is a below-the- line cold one. There was a discussion on the contribution that cold temps. might have made to the hydrates problem and the answer was the same- no bad effects from the cold above -surface temps (because the temps. at the deepest point of a Clear Creek drill- say 5500m- are about 80F and thus quite warm and thats where the gas enters the hole ,more or less). As the gas comes towards the surface the temp falls to 68F at about 800m below the surface-still no problem with gas flows . Cold weather on the surface can only affect the temp. down as far as the underside of the earths crust -about 500m below the surface (Red Barons figure). Its generally only in the last 50 to 200 feet before the gas exits the hole that low temps might be a problem re the gas flowing and heaters soon solve such a problem so near the wellhead. The winter, particularly snow falls, can kill access to the wellhead mechanicals though ,as can very low surface temps (- 20F)affect any type of machinery. The good news here is that all Marions pressurisation equipment (pumps) at the wellheads are new or newish and they are believed to have installed top-of-the range equipment (pat on the back for Marion). Provided the pumps etc dont pack a sad in a fiendish winter, or other mechanical problems eventuate when the surface is under a very heavy shroud of snow or H2O, Marion holders should be able to rest easy as they watch the winter gas prices clinb noticably above summer prices.
