I have been to see the film and I must say I enjoyed it and I did not find that it dragged. It had a nice Kleenex ending.
I was put off by the heavy reliance on the Stolen part because from all I have read the stolen thing did not occur. There was certainly truth in the part where nullah says he is neither white or black. That was a fundamental part of the problem particularly from the earliest days. The half bloods were rejected by the aboriginal side of the equation, because they did not fit into the cultural aspects of the culture. There was also truth in the way aboriginals were allowed to fit into white society.
The big irony for me was the bit about letting an aboriginal have a drink in a bar where only whites can drink while the NT intervention deals with the consequences of open slather drinking with "sit down money".
Finally, as far as I am aware no Japanese soldiers landed on Australian shores. Put me right if I am wrong.
