International flights are not a big money spinner for Qantas and yes at the moment they are burning cash but it is sustainable for some time due to good past fiscal management and the current government jobkeeper payments. Previous re-structurings at Qantas have always resulted in a pretty good outcomes for them and only time will tell if that holds true again. REX is very brave if they actually go ahead with the proposed foray into the main domestic market as it is an expensive business at the best of times and to go head on in a battle with Qantas is fraught with danger , the danger being that if they cannot endure the cut-price war with Qantas / Jetstar they stand to lose everything including the current core business where they currently have a virtual monopoly........ Market cap of $130mil versus MC of $7 billion+ who do you think holds the whip hand ?
