taxation of income unfair, page-14

Well, thanks everyone for the replies, even if I don't agree with some of them.

The original point was that tax paid on labour, or your personal effort, is (in my opinion) taxed higher or at a disadvantage than that paid on capital gains or earnings from a company.

As for the Robin Hood commentator previously.

I got in the position I am in now, by studying hard at school, then spent 5 years at the school of mines, working during the study breaks, then spent the last 15 years working long hours in remote sites whilst continuing to study further and take on more and more responsibility.

It didn't, and doesn't, fall onto one's lap without a lot of hard work and personal sacrifice. So to Mr Robin Hood, whilst I am happy to pay a fair share of tax, I don't think it is your right to get a government handout, no one owes you a living, get up and improve yourself if you want more.
