I think you'll find how it treats the problem in younger patients is with the ability to incorporate a bifocal type lens. Corrects the distance and reduced eye strain for up close work (reading). This is the supposed reasoning behind the progression of Myopia. The eye is corrected for distance then the children work up close with studies. The eyes seldom get chance to relax for distance vision and this heightens the risk of progressive myopia.
