To be fair, there is no verifiable proof against herd immunity either. The fact that Australia's strategy of containment has resulted in a low death count so far means zero unless we get a vaccine in the near future.
There is no verifiable proof that we'll ever have a vaccine so it is still a possibility that we may be forced toward herd immunity in the years ahead.
