UCG utilises "stranded coal" which is too deep to mine economically. this is what linc has just bought in wyoming and thats what linc has at chinchilla and in South Australia etc etc.
the coal at emerald that the chinese plan to buy is high quality coking and thermal coal which is at such a depth that it CAN be mined economically.
basically, the wyoming coals that linc are in the process of purchasing aren't of any value other than for UCG or CSM production.
there in lies the discrepancy in the valuations of the deposits.
