J Rio Tinto May Sell China Aluminum Joint Venture - Reuters

Rio Tinto Ltd. (RIO.AU) is in talks to sell half its Chinese aluminum joint venture to
its partner, the Reuters news agency reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources in two
Chinese companies.
The joint venture partner, Qingtongxia, is set to be taken over by state-owned China
Power Investment Corp. to form China's second-largest aluminum producer, Reuters
said, citing the sources.
Qingtongxia was in talks with Rio to buy back all the shares it didn't own in the
joint venture to consolidate its assets before the takeover, Reuters reported, citing an
unnamed official at Qingtongxia and an unnamed source at China Power.
Rio Tinto spokesman Nick Cobban declined to comment, Reuters said.
