I understand your point. The natural problem in a defective brain is relevant only because the issue of defective spiking seen in the frontal lobe appears not to be caused by the current causing the spike but a defect in the membrane chemistry through which the spike travels.
The issue you refer to in an artificial spiking neural network seems to be solvable in the membrane used to transmit the spikes. The following paper explains what I am trying to communicate if I have attached the right one: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4117152/
