When you put a buy order in have a good think about how much you can bare to lose and set a stop loss there, this is the very least you can do
otherwise start learning about fundamental analysis so that you can gauge long term value for a share and learn some technical analysis you you can at the very least get an understanding of whether your entry point might be a little high
and just know no matter how good the stock looks on all fronts you still might lose out
