Agreed on both fronts. The best plan with a natural graphite resource for now would be to simply own it and do nothing with it. In a few years time:
1. Graphite demand will rise
2. Synthetic or Natural will become dominant while the other dies
3. Syrah Resources (SYR) experiment of trying to mine and sell graphite while China tries to kill it through unethical competition will play out.
If Natural graphite becomes the dominant resource and China fails to crush all competition for supply (SYR being the first competitor), then the value of any NatGraph resource will suddenly become truly valuable. In the meantime, best not to burn cash on such an asset, just let it sit.
That's my opinion anyway.
