Very important for Liberals to support the pensioners as they are the one group who consistently vote more for Liberals than Labor. As to whether lump sums are preferable over fortnightly payments is debatableand dependant on the purpose of the paymrnt. If it is a one off based on affordability I would prefer a lump sum. John Howard successfully used one off lump sums $500 a pop to win over the pensioners and also with family payments. Research has probably shown that lump sums is a good bit of pork in political terms. I guess if I was ninety+ or for that matter older than the average lifespan of 80 years the lump sum is probably the best option LOL.

Point is everybodies different. Doesnt matter how individuals spend their money. Its their choice. Good liberal philosophy. Importantly, however it is spent it is so many more billions that are circulating over and over through the economy, increasing liquidity and may stall the likelyhood of a protracted recession. Whats the saying "money makes the world go round'.

In closing to all the Pensioners who received their little windfall a toast: GOOD HEALTH TO YOU AND LOTS OF ENJOYMENT
