I don't really see what the fuss is all about. Telstra should go ahead with its own NBN, upgrade of existing services, where it makes economic sense to do so and offer wireless broadband elsewhere. The $5 billion of its own capital should cover a project of this magnitude.
The longer this inactivity prevails, the less likely anything will happen.
A timely start by Telstra would take advantage of the downturn in the economy - good for us all. Let's get on with it!
