Buying at $1.045, you make 6.5c profit. I thought it’s the beginning of the new year, I’ll stick my wife into this.Buy 80k shares and then make sure she doesn’t earn any other franking credits until after 30 Jun 2021.But after Capital Gains offset, it is a small positive return at the 39% marginal tax rate, and only 0.19% return (after brokerage) at the 47% tax rate.
For lower tax rates and Super Funds, it makes moresense.

Thanks for the summary, re with the 2.9c loss per share.
But if you buy in at 1.045c doesn't that mean your capital loss is 13.5c - sell at $1.05-14c dividend.
So that 13.5c capital loss can offset perfectly future gains for this financial year.

eg you buy stock ABC at $1 and sell at $1.135 the next day you pay no tax?
