Not surprising to hear today's news, Donald and his buddies were asking for this. This is bad management at it's finest.

All empires come to an end. Telstra has had it's own Telco empire since the beginning of technology, PMG, Telecom, AOTC then Telstra. I worked at Telstra there between 1993 and 2001, prior to that was employed by OTC, that was aggressively acquired (and taken apart, piece by piece) by Telecom as it was known then.

This may be the beginning of the end of their reign.

Empires usually end with arrogant idiots running the show.

Facing a substantial amount of fiber, rolled out by a competitor funded by the government, Telstra may well lose it's monopoly.

Not to say that the SP will not bounce hard, but the venerable $4 may be broken.

I have witnessed some probably legal but very nasty anti-competitive behaviour from this company (post employment) in the attempt to kill off much smaller companies trying to compete in their space.

Personally I hope Telstra as it has been in the past few years, dies a slow and painful death, and re-emerges as a more competitive and less arrogant company.
