Although infection rates are high in South America mortality and serious sickness rates are low. Chileans are a very slim (well actually they are just not a fat) race.
This has not been super discussed but this is a big reason why so many Americans have died from covid and why it is disproportionately killing poorer americans (poor diet).

So Chile is coping better than many from that point of view.

Its why Boris (a Covid survivor) is pushing Brits to lose weight. He used to be a fatty and Covid nearly killed him.

A lesson to all of us including me, lose a couple of kilos....
