Thanks for the comments guys! However I think that some of you may have misinterpreted me - to make your own points and fair enough. All I said was that I was supporting Andrew Wilkie's campaign in Bennelong because I believe that JH has damaged Australia, our peace and security and our reputation as a country where you get a fair go and that many people are angry about it. I also noted that I don't agree with a number of Greens policies and I have in fact told my fellow Greens this. But I also believe that I can contribute better as an insider rather than say as just a volunteer handing out leaflets, so I have joined the Greens. I have never been a political animal and in fact like most Australians I am cynical about politicians - but I am feel compelled to at least register my protest and make it harder for the little weasel to be so comfortable and arrogant.

My comment regarding the planet running out of fossil fuels "at some point" is not a call to radical "greenie-ism" - just a statement of fact. Yes we should be preparing for this eventuality by properly funding research and development into alternative energy - beacuse I don't want to see the end of civilization as we know it. I think I am both rational and economically rational in this regard. The world's economy is powered by fossil fuels and as a limited resource those with it wield enormous economic power. Nations or companies that participate in developing and patenting alternative energy systems will benefit enormously in the future. I won't babble on about oil companies buying up patents of alternative technologies and sitting on them - but I will say that we should be act now to ensure that we have the technology in the future that will allow us to prosper economically and socially without fossil fuels.

Oh yes and I do believe that we should be taking better care of the land and our natural resources in general and not b*ggering them up with unsustainable farming practises and inappropriate development.

I don't mind making money personally but I do think that there's more to life than money and JH has forgotten this. We live in a society not just an economy.
