Someone made the comment earlier on today that surely PPP main shareholders had enough of the comapny to ward off any unwelcome takeover bid without the help of NZOG.
So I have done a little checking again on the shareholdins of the the two major holders and come up with this.
At this stage we have :
1. Allan Tattersfield with a total of 75,562,644 shares which should translate into about 12.8% of the company
(His last disclosed purchases were back in October)
2. Neil Tomkinson with a new total of 48,589,757 shares which represents about 8.25% of the company.
(His most recent purchase disclosed today)
So those two together would appear to have about 21% of the company.
Tony Radford's stake appears to be about 5 million shares = 0.7% of the company
So they are not up to over 25% which they might need if they were to avoid a takeover by themselves alone.
Now NZOG declared overnight that it had acquired 33,950,000 shares or 5.77% of PPP.
Again today there has been quite a bit of action with 23,967,802 share going through on the ASX and 6,864,237 on the NZX. A total of over 30 million.
Now not all of those will have gone to NZOG necessarily. But we can assume that a fairly hefty percentage of them have.
Certainly earlier today NZOG released another announcement to indicate that it had acquired more shares and then had a tally of 41,690,000 share or 7.083 % of PPP. That was an increase of 7.74 million shares.
Presumably we could assume that of the total traded today NZOG could have taken a further 15 million at least. So NZOG probably has over 10% of PPP by tonight
