I agree with your general sentiment.
This is indeed a sad day for corporate Australia as CBA is one of the jewels in crown of our business world here and we should expect better.
The bank owes all stake holders an apology imo.
What a complete botch up by any measure.
It is not enough for the bank to blame its broker. The responsibility lays with the board, the CEO and the management of the bank.
If this is an example of what is to come, heaven help all share holders.
Heads should roll beginning with the Chairman, then the CEO.
What a disgrace!
