The continent of antarctica hasn't always been at the latitude it is now.
200m years ago it was joined onto E.Africa and began to move away from it. It only reaced its current location about 30-60m years ago. Those fossilised trees are just further support to plate tectonic theory, not that the south polar region was any warmer then than it is now.
