Yes this is a risk. I did ask Redflow about this and they acknowledged and had considered the risk. They also said that they had online visibility to the state of the batteries and would know if a battery was offline (say for reverse engineering) and there had been no suspicious activity. Also these are the old batteries without the new electrode stack and electronics.
I do wonder if there are discussions about ZBest licensing the tech for manufacture in China. No doubt they could do it for much less than Redflow with China-scale volumes.
