A disruptive technology is one that displaces an established technology and shakes up the industry or a ground-breaking product that creates a completely new industry.
OSPs Dyevert is a product that will, and currently is, replacing current dyes being used in the industry. Dyevert reduces amount of dye getting to organs by about 40% with no reduction in image quality.
In my opinion any new tech that can reduce the likelyhood of acute kidney injury and other complications will be used. Hospital dont want patient staying any longer that they have too...especially when it is a complication of a procedure they have conducted....it costs too much.
The European Society of Cardiology and European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery has issued joint guidelines for the reduction of AKI that recommend better patient screening for the risk of AKI, ensuring ample hydration, better dye selectionand reducing the volume of dye injected into patients.
The deal is done now with GE so the product/technology is being used now in many other countries around the world. Although financial details were not there this is a no brainer for me. With something like 90 million imaging procedures conducted every year this has to be good for OSP.
