This GNX battery initiative is an excellent idea. A Central QLD battery will seize control of and stabilise grid voltage over a considerable distance. Government will be thrilled at the energy security benefits. Consumers will just have rock solid juice and not notice.
Be careful comparing to the SA battery experience, which included two significant grid failures. Yet the Como battery will charge at near-nil cost and sell into morning and larger evening peaks and should pay for itself quickly.
Later, when KPH is up and running, GNX will be able to perform some cunning shifting of stored energy by charging here not there and discharging there not here.
I am looking for a home for my renewables capital allocation having been displaced from IFN. While KPH is a brilliant project, I am leery about the EA option to buy KPH as GNX carries the risk but may have the reward taken from it. The Como battery rekindles my interest - demonstrating the GNX BoD gets it.
